Thanksgiving 2011
Wow! Who would have thought I year would have gone by so quickly. And so much has changed too! To go through all THOSE changes I’d need more than a quick holiday post for SURE!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m so grateful for my family and friends. I hope to make it up to them by being able to update this blog more often next month.
A little break…

Hey everyone,
Sorry I haven’t been posting as frequently as I should. I guess I get a little lazy/unmotivated sometimes. Good stuff eh? I’m sure part of it has to do with me wanting to relax a bit before I start my new job tomorrow. I have to get up early for orientation and everything. I wish I could just get paid for doing whatever I want. But then again, I guess that would be a little boring (but lucrative).
I am still (trying) to do the September Lists. I usually write them down in the notebook, but lately haven’t been able to get around to the scrapbook-ing portion. It all started with the topic “People You Love”, where I wanted to print out pictures, and just spiraled from there. At least I’m still making lists right?
And living at home really hasn’t brought me too much inspiration for “Snapping September”. Usually I just want to take pictures of what I’m wearing (if I get dressed for the day) or what I’m eating (if it looks good/interesting).
Maybe once I start working I’ll have more fun/exciting stories? Who knows?!

Few Favorite Things
1) I’ve started crafting again
Believe it or not, I used to be quite the crafty chica back in the day. Inspired by the many craft blogs that I now follow, I’ve decided to get back in the habit. One thing I’ve started to do again is counted cross-stitch:
2) I’ve joined 30 Days of Lists
Another way I’ve decided to get my creative juices flowing is by joining this lovely blog. I’ll be posting my lists each day here, but I might also be working on a “hard” copy. We will have to see.
3) I’ll be starting a new job soon.
Last week I went in and did all the official paperwork/testing for a REAL job! If you haven’t checked out my “about me” page, then here is the official notice: I have a job! I’ve decided to keep where I work under-wraps, though it is a very large and well-known company. It’ll be good to be making some money and saving, but of course it’s not my “dream job”. I just have to have a little patience and faith that I’ll get that job soon enough. And even though my office has a business casual dress code, I’ll be able to wear all my nice outfits!!
4) Late B-day Gift
One of my lovely former housemates sent me a belated birthday card w/ a gift certificate inside!! Yay! I’ve already used part of it to purchase a full-length mirror and some lip gloss. Super fancy eh?
5) New Daily Blog
It’s not enough that I’ll be doing a list every day in Sept, I’ve also decided to start taking a picture every day as well! It’s called, Snapping September, and I invite you to join in. While I have my fancy camera, I’ll also be utilizing my phone’s camera too, just in case I want to take a sneaky picture.
Myrtle Beach Pelicans AKA Minor League Baseball
This is gonna be a photo heavy post!
Last night, my mother and I decided to take an evening away from repeats on television and instead went to a minor league baseball game. We enjoy watching the Myrtle Beach Pelicans during the spring and summer, as it provides a cheap and fun distraction. We left early when they were winning, but they ended up losting 8-4 to the Lynchburg Hillcats. Here are some pictures from the evening. Enjoy!!
Overall, a fun time was had by all!
Few Favorite Things
So, I’ve decided since I seem unable to update consistently on Fridays, to change 5 Friday Faves to just Few Favorite Things. So here we go:
1) Grace’s “Little Songs”
My friend Grace (who took the pictures on this site, who is a member of Carpe Geekdom, and is a good friend from high school) just released a compilation of her ukuelle songs!
Being the good friend I am, and the fact that I do usually enjoy her work, I purchased the CD. Now while it doesn’t go with my more recent fare of “dance-able songs” her work is still very enjoyable. She has a good mix of upbeat, fun melodies with more tragic ones. I’m more drawn to the happier songs, particularly “Little Songs”, “Ladybug”, “Cheering Charm”, and “This Is My Bliss”. Plus, the bandcamp page lets you preview all the songs! I recommend checking it out!
2) Wicked @ the Kennedy Center
On Wednesday, I headed up with my family to see Wicked at the Kennedy Center. The last time I saw it was in Richmond, but the show in DC was just as good. I just wish I’d bought one of these (if they weren’t so darn expensive):
3) Big Bang Theory & The Hunger Games
Because they were on sale at Target, I ended up buying 2/3 of The Hunger Games and Big Bang Theory. I’ve already finished the books (after holding on to them for a trip), but I can’t wait to relive my favorite BBT moments!
4) Cute outfits
I’ve had some really adorable outfits this past week:

5) Blog Journal
I decided to get a journal to have at me anytime, just in case inspiration strikes.
Card Making Class
Today, instead of the usual schedule of laying around the house until who knows when, I got up early to join my mother in her stamping class. I’ve done stamping/card-making classes before, so I knew what to expect. Here’s a sample of the lovely cards I put together:
I love the colors of this card. So bright and citrus-y.
Loved the lacy side detail.
I wasn't too hot on the green, but it looks better in person.
All of these cards were designed by the lovely and wonderful Kim Miller. You can check out her personal website, or her stampin’ up site.
Of course, I’m still working on updating the site. Once I do a little personal photo-shoot I’ll start putting things into motion.
